After having spent the best part of a year renovating our home, the last thing I wanted to do after putting up with the building game was to go into another agreement and buy our boat.
Yet after spending half a day roaming around the Mandurah Boatshow and dreaming what could have been, and having had enough, Maria spotted the two Evolutions up to our left . Oooo ok, one more and I must say I’m glad she did. After meeting Ben and Steve, and having a really good look, I was very excited. I’d been looking for a well laid out 28 foot or so boat for years. With its great use of deck space, you can have a party ,go diving, fishing.
I’d looked at the imports, the Eastern States-built boats and all I could see was 35 to 55 thousand dollars worth of pretty stuff I didn’t need. With its well constructed hull ,made for that thumping trip back from Rotto if you had to in the Freo doctor, to a cruise up the upper reaches of the Swan, the EVO33 is my boat.
Being a competitive time trialler at SoPYC, I’ve had many comments from other members on how the boat sits and looks in the water.
I’ve only got one problem with the man, Steve Evans that is, so passionate about building an impressive boat for WA conditions. I didn’t let him talk me into the V8 engines. Don’t get me wrong, the twin 210 hp V6s and hydrofoils on the legs can get me just over 30 kts and that’s plenty for me,but those big babies would just be purring at 30 kts.
From day one to even now, nothing is too much of a problem for Steve,he has given me so much help and he’s not one of those guys that after handover you can’t find him, he’s always there for you, even if it was because I’d forgotten what he told me and I had to ring him on a Saturday arvo.
I’d have no problem if Steve asked me that someone wanted to look at my baby, oooo it’s called JUNIOR.
It’s my new toy and I love it!
