We decided on a local West Australian boat builder for very good reason. We were enthused by Steve's promotion of the Evolution hull suiting Perth local waters conditions. The size of the boat - being 33ft LOA and being a sports cruiser were "on the money" as far as us experienced boaties were concerned. A sea trial where we both drove the Evolution confirmed this.

My wife, Jo, pressed Steve as to whether he would do an outboard version of the Evolution. Steve was keen to do so in an enthusiastic manner. Our boat was to be the FIRST Evolution 33 OB (Outboard Version). The manner that Steve and the crew of Northern Star Boat Builders tackled the project of this specialised custom built version was a "CAN DO" one. And that attitude remained throughout the build process as we inspected the progress on Northern Star's premises on many occasions. The visiting to the workshop premises were encouraged and welcomed. Try doing that with an imported model!!!

Steve always knew when we had visited the workshop premises, there would be a "To do" list email arriving in his inbox the very next morning as we thought of minor changes and improvements through the build process. In spite of the myriad of changes the "CAN DO" approach remained throughout. In fact, I remember sending an SMS text to Steve after launching and handover which, amongst thanking all of the crew of Northern Star Boat Builders stated :
".... it has been more than a pleasure custom building an Evolution with your team, it has been FUN!”

The bottom line is, owning an Evolution is like living life in seventh gear.
